Aggies recover from disastrous start, trail South Carolina 17-14 at half

The game couldn’t have started much worse, but the Aggies fought back, and they trail only 17-14 at half time against South Carolina

The second half of the season could not have started more disastrously for the Texas A&M Aggies. On the opening kickoff, Gamecocks return man Xavier Legette went 100 yards for a touchdown, and put the Aggies in an early hole before either team ran a play from scrimmage.

Then, as hard as it is to believe, it got even worse, as on the ensuing Aggies drive, on their 4th offensive play, Haynes King threw an interception, which lead to a South Carolina field goal and then remarkably, it got worse, 3 plays into the Aggies next drive, they fumbled inside their own 35 yard line, giving the ball back to the Gamecocks who turned it into another touchdown.

With just over 5 minutes off the clock in the game, the Aggies were down 17-0.

But they didn’t quit, as Haynes King managed to put more offensive consistency together after the two turnovers, and the Bryce Anderson and the Aggies defense came up with a takeaway of their own.

By the time the second quarter ended, the Aggies had produced 3 scoring drives, and had narrowed the deficit to 17-14 at the half.

Once the storm settled, the Aggies seemed like the better team for most of the first half, can they continue that in the second half?
