It wasn’t long agothat the Dallas Cowboys playing NFL games on Sundays felt like little more than a pipe dream. Now it feels like a nightmare as they are set to kick off against the Atlanta Falcons missing nearly $30 million worth of players, including left tackle Tyron Smith.
For the uninitiated, when the Cowboys played Atlanta in 2017 without Tyron Smith, quarterback Dak Prescott was sacked eight times. The rosters have changed, but the issues along the Dallas offensive line have only deepened since then. Only guard Zack Martin is left from the vaunted group that once ran roughshod over the league.
On paper, the Cowboys are the more talented team. Unfortunately that paper reads like a classified document with names redacted. Nine different players are currently on 2020’s amended version of injury reserve. Wide receiver Amari Cooper is again playing through injuries.
Despite being three-point favorites at BETMGM, it’s going to take a Herculean effort from the coaching staff to manufacture enough offense to come away with a victory and cover the spread. Dallas will have plenty of time to right the ship, but today’s not that day.
The Verdict: The Cowboys fail to cover and the under (54.5) hits as the offense sputters
Season record: 0-1 ATS, 0-1 Over/Under
