It’s always fun to kick back on NFL Sunday (and Monday), knowing that several former Texas A&M football players will create multiple highlight reels on offense and defense.
During Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season, three former Aggie wide receivers dominated the stat line, further cementing Texas A&M in the conversation for being “Wide receiver U.”
On Sunday, future Hall of Famer and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans led the way with six receptions for 171 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs’ win against the Chicago Bears, Jacksonville WR Christian Kirk (11 receptions, 110 yards) and Detroit Lions WR Josh Reynolds (5 receptions 66 yards, two touchdowns) both performed well in losing efforts.
While offense under Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher hasn’t been the calling card until recently, all three former Aggies are three of the best athletes to ever come through the program under former head coach Kevin Sumlin, each holding several records that may, or may not be broken in the future.
- Christian Kirk (2015-2017): second in career receptions (234), third in career receiving yards (2,856 yards), and third in career receiving touchdowns (26).
- Mike Evans (2012-2013): seventh in career receptions (151), sixth in career receiving yards (2,499 yards), and seventh in career receiving touchdowns (17).
- Josh Reynolds (2014-2016): fifth in career receptions (164), fourth in career receiving yards (2,788), and second in career receiving touchdowns (30).
It’s no surprise that all three have not only made their mark at Texas A&M but have already created a lasting legacy in the NFL, whether it’s Evans’ production, Kirk’s speed and versatility, or Reynolds’ length and quarterback-friendly reliability, every Aggie fan of what all three have accomplished thus far.
