A round-up of the draft grades given to the four selections of former Badgers

Until football (hopefully) gets underway in August much will be written about the recently-concluded 2020 NFL Draft and how…

The Detroit Lions’ selection of Quintez Cephus at No. 166

CBS Sports: B+

“Cephus is a battler in traffic and plays faster than his timed speed. Thick body. Could even be a big slot in the NFL. Not a separator. Quality depth for Lions at WR.”

Detroit Free Press: C

“Although receiver is an underrated need — the Lions don’t have a projected contributor on the roster signed beyond 2020 — defensive tackle was probably a stronger area of need. Cephus has good size and decent production — 1,400 yards the past two seasons — but he comes with some off-field baggage and likely won’t be an immediate contributor.”

LionsWire: B-

“Cephus is a versatile offensive weapon who can line up on the outside or in the slot in Darrell Bevell’s offense…He’ll have a tough fight ahead of him as the Lions have seven other receivers vying for the fourth and fifth receiver roles, but he brings a unique skill set that could separate him from the rest. There are some issues with this pick though, as there have been some legal troubles with Cephus that kept him off of Wisconsin’s team in 2018.”
