A meaningless Kentucky three at the end of their Arkansas upset was a horrible bad beat

On the bright side, Arkansas finished a huge upset! Right? Right??

Spread picks can be one of the more low-stakes ways to bet on upsets, provided you strike the right balance with the correct number. But sometimes, you can be at the mercy of players who (understandably) play to the final whistle even when additional play no longer factors into the outcome. Hey, sports are supposed to be about resilience, discipline, and sportsmanship, right?

Saturday afternoon saw a titanic SEC matchup between No. 6 Kentucky and No. 18 Arkansas. And with Ketucky favored by 2.5 points per Tipico Sportsbook, Razorbacks bettors learned a hard lesson about what it means to play until the final buzzer.

Arkansas was nursing a comfortable five-point lead with but a few seconds remaining. I don’t know about you, but I’m not aware of any possible five-point play in basketball. An upset of Kentucky was all but 100 percent assured.

That would not stop TyTy Washington Jr., who had to squeeze out every last drop of this conference battle and break the hearts of -2.5 Arkansas bettors everywhere.

Know that if this was your spread bet and you were positively elated as the final seconds of this game ticked down, our thoughts are with you—what a heartbreaker.
