Tennessee’s women’s basketball team was named United States Basketball Writers Association Women’s Team of the Week when the organization announced its weekly awards.
The Lady Vols defeated Florida State, 79-77, at Food City Center on Dec. 4.
Tennessee also defeated No. 20 Iowa, 78-68, on Saturday in the Shark Beauty Women’s Champions Classic at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Tennessee’s win versus Iowa was Kim Caldwell’s first victory over a ranked opponent as the Lady Vols’ head coach.
The Lady Vols rank No. 3 in the nation in scoring offense. Tennessee is also ranked second in steals per game, turnover margin and turnovers forced per game. Tennessee is also the nation’s top offensive rebounding team.
