Texas remains No. 1 in US LBM Coaches Poll despite Top 5 shake up

There’s a shakeup in the top five of the new US LBM Coaches Poll, but the Texas Longhorns hold firm at No. 1.

Thanks to a resounding win in the Red River Rivalry, the Texas Longhorns remain No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll for a third straight week.

After a slow start, the Horns exploded for 21 points in the second quarter against the Oklahoma Sooners and never looked back, ultimately winning 34-3 and claiming the Golden Hat Trophy.

But the rest of the poll’s top five changed. Oregon’s late night win over Ohio State in Eugene lifted the Ducks to No. 2 and dropped the Buckeyes to No. 5.

Penn State, who traveled to Los Angeles and scored a come-from-behind victory over USC, moved up to No. 3. The Georgia Bulldogs moved up a spot to No. 4 after holding off Mississippi State.

The biggest fall in the rankings was Ole Miss. The Rebels plummeted seven spots to No. 15 after losing to the LSU Tigers in OT. LSU moved up two spots to No. 8.

Oklahoma dropped out of the Top 25 altogether.
