Broncos injuries: Tyler Badie a potential candidate for IR

Broncos running back Tyler Badie is a possible candidate for injured reserve after injuring his back against the Jets on Sunday.

Denver Broncos running back Tyler Badie did not practice Wednesday after injuring his back against the New York Jets on Sunday.

After practice, Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked if Badie is a candidate for injured reserve and Payton said “possibly.”

If Badie is placed on IR, he would have to sit out at least four games. Regardless of whether or not the RB is placed on reserve, Badie seems unlikely to play against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5.

Elsewhere on the injury front, safety JL Skinner (ankle) returned to practice after missing the last two weeks.

Broncos cornerback Damarri Mathis (ankle) is eligible to return from IR as early as this week, but Denver has not yet opened his window to return. The cornerback might need more time to return from his high ankle sprain.

The Broncos will practice again on Thursday and Friday and then release a final injury report with game statuses for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.
