Texas Football now No. 1 in newest US LBM Coaches Poll

US LBM Coaches Poll votes the Texas Longhorns No. 1, narrowly holding off Alabama for the top spot.

Thanks to a (sloppy) win over Mississippi State and Alabama’s upset of Georgia, the Texas Longhorns are now No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Texas had trailed Georgia for a few weeks. The Longhorns have spent two weeks as No. 1 in the AP Poll.

The Bulldogs staged a huge comeback to take the lead over the Tide in Tuscaloosa, only to see Bama drive the 70 yards for the winning TD.

Alabama almost passed Texas into the No. 1 spot. Bama was voted first on 19 ballots. The Longhorns received 29 of 55 first-place votes and finish just nine poll points ahead of the Crimson Tide.

The remaining seven top votes went to Ohio State, which holds at No. 3 overall after winning its Big Ten opener at Michigan State. Tennessee moves up to No. 4 after having the week off. Georgia falls to fifth.
