Georgia transfer named as All-American

Former Georgia football offensive lineman, five-star recruit listed as second-team USA TODAY preseason All-American

Former Georgia Bulldogs center Clay Webb has been named as a second-team All-American according to USA TODAY. Webb, who now plays offensive guard for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, is a former five-star recruit.

Webb joined the Georgia football program in 2019. He stuck with the Bulldogs for a few seasons before transferring after the 2021 college football season.

In 2022, Webb started in seven games for Jacksonville State. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound offensive guard showed significant improvement the following season. Webb’s 2023 season ended up with him being named first-team Conference USA. He anchored a Gamecocks offensive line that set a Conference USA record of 522 rushing yards against Louisiana Tech.

Webb has a good chance to be selected in the 2025 NFL draft. He was able to revitalize his career at Jacksonville State after not seeing much playing time at Georgia. The Bulldogs return a stacked offensive guard room with first-team All-American Tate Ratledge. However, Georgia could use Webb at center. Georgia’s projected starting center, Jared Wilson, is battling injuries ahead of the Bulldogs’ season opener.
