5-star safety Trey McNutt announces college commitment

Oregon Ducks 5-star safety target Trey McNutt officially announced his college commitment.

The Oregon Ducks are back up and rolling on the recruiting trail, landing a massive commitment in the class of 2025 on Saturday morning.

5-star safety Trey McNutt announced his commitment to Oregon, choosing the Ducks over the likes of Texas A&M, Ohio State, USC, and Florida. McNutt was originally supposed to announce his commitment back on July 19, but was forced to postpone a couple of weeks.

McNutt is rated as the No. 19 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 1 safety in the nation. He is now the third 5-star player to join Oregon’s class this cycle, joining 5-star WR Dakorien Moore and 5-star WR Dallas Wilson.

McNutt is also the first safety to commit to Oregon in this cycle, though there is a hope that Oregon can still land 5-star S Jonah Williams later this month as well.

It could be a banner day for Oregon on the recruiting trail, as the Ducks also wait to hear from 2026 QB Jonas Williams, who is set to make his commitment at some point during the day as well. Williams, the No. 8 QB in the 2026 class, is currently projected to land with the Ducks.
