The Penn State Nittany Lions have the No. 9-ranked defense in EA Sports’ upcoming video game College Football 25.
Penn State’s overall rating is 88, tied with Texas, Utah, Florida State, Oklahoma, and Iowa. The six teams range from 8 to 14 in the rankings.
Ohio State, Oregon and Michigan are the three Big Ten teams ranked ahead of Penn State. The Buckeyes own the top overall defense with a 96 overall rating, while the Ducks and the Wolverines sit at 90 overall.

EA Sports might have shortchanged the Nittany Lions when comparing the video game rankings to advanced metrics like ESPN SP+. Penn State has the fourth-best defense according to SP+, and deservedly so, considering the unit’s nation-leading yards allowed.
Oregon’s ranking over Penn State is surprising, considering the Ducks ranked outside the top 25 in most defensive categories last season.
As everyone knows by now, the ratings matter for gameplay, but there doesn’t seem to be an exact reflection when it comes to the actual football.
