The Oklahoma City Thunder (41-18) and Phoenix Suns (35-25) meet at Footprint Center Sunday. Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Thunder vs. Suns odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Thunder lead 1-0

The Thunder were embarrassed last time out losing straight up as 11-point favorites in a 132-118 defeat at the San Antonio Spurs Thursday. G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a game-high 31 points, and the Over hit for the 9th time in Oklahoma City’s last 11 games (9-1-1).

The Suns can relate to being upset as big favorites. Phoenix, which was favored by 9 points, lost 118-109 to the Houston Rockets Saturday with the Under (231.5) cashing at Footprint Center. G Devin Booker (ankle) was forced to leave in the 4th quarter; he has yet to be ruled out for Sunday.

In a Nov. 12 meeting, the Thunder covered as 3.5-point underdogs with a 111-99 win at Phoenix as the Under (232) hit. Gilgeous-Alexander had 35 points, and Oklahoma City outscored the Suns 31-13 in the 4th quarter.

Thunder at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 120, Suns 119

Moneyline

The Thunder (-250) should be able to take advantage of the banged-up Suns playing on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. However, this number is a little high.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

This spread seems like an overreaction to Booker injuring his ankle and C Jusuf Nurkic leaving with a sprained neck against Houston. F Kevin Durant and G Bradley Beal should be able to do most of the heavy-lifting for Phoenix offensively and keep this game somewhat close.

The Thunder are in a good spot after getting embarrassed at the Spurs, but this is way too many points for a team to lay on the road against Durant and Beal.

BET SUNS +6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Over is 9-1-1 in the Thunder’s last 11 games, and I’m not looking to fade that trend.

The Suns put up just 109 points last time out — their lowest output in the last 14 games — and even if Booker sits, they should bounce back offensively behind a more productive night from Durant and Beal.

BET OVER 233.5 (-110).
