Texas defensive tackles T’Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy had strong showings at the 2024 NFL combine on Thursday.
The former Longhorns made a case to be considered the top two interior defensive linemen in this draft class. Although Murphy is the higher rated draft prospect of the two and is likely a first-round lock, Sweat stole the show for a moment due to his 40-yard dash time.
Sweat chose not to weigh in at the Senior Bowl roughly a month ago, therefore scouts were curious what that number would look like at the NFL combine. The 2023 Outland Trophy winner weighed in at 366 pounds on Thursday in Indianapolis.
He proved he can still move at that weight. Sweat ran a 5.27 40-yard dash with a 1.8 10-yard split. Many analysts and fans were impressed with his quickness considering his massive frame. Here were some of the best reactions to Sweat’s 40-yard dash time at the combine.
