Seahawks hire former Ravens LB Josh Bynes to coaching position

The Seattle Seahawks continue to fill out their coaching staff, and the Baltimore Ravens connection from head coach Mike Macdonald continues to be quite strong. On Monday it was announced the Seahawks have hired former Ravens linebacker Josh Bynes to be their assistant linebackers coach.

Once again, Macdonald has secured someone from the Harbaugh coaching tree. Bynes interviewed with Baltimore and the Los Angeles Chargers before accepting the Seahawks job, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houston.

The youth movement in Seattle continues. Bynes, age 34, was just in the NFL as recently as the 2022 season. He officially retired as a Raven in December, signing a one-day contract.

Originally an undrafted free agent, Bynes spent his first three seasons in the Charm City of Baltimore. A productive role player, Bynes was a member of the Ravens’ Super Bowl XLVII-winning team under coach John Harbaugh. After Baltimore, Bynes spent three years in Detroit and two in Arizona. He then played three of his final four seasons in the league with the Ravens (with a one-year stop in Cincinnati).

Now Bynes comes to Seattle to help fix one of the worst run defenses in the league. Linebacker depth is a need for the Seahawks, and Bynes is there to help give his recent insight on the position to the team.
