What wide receiver Jordan Whittington has meant to the Texas football program over the last several years is indescribable.
Whittington has proven to be a selfless leader who did things the right way on and off the field. On top of that, he was loyal to the soil through some of the lowest points for both himself and Texas.
From position changes, a 5-7 season, to battling numerous injuries, Whittington consistently demonstrated what it means to be a Longhorn. His resilience and ability to lead by example has shaped the culture of Steve Sarkisian’s program.
Whittington never complained about doing the dirty work, whether that was providing key blocks for several crucial plays or chasing a player down from behind to force a fumble.
The Cuero native concluded his collegiate career with 141 receptions for 1,757 yards and five touchdowns.
There’s no doubt he will have a successful career in the NFL, and his impact will be felt in Austin for years to come. Here’s a look at Whittington’s farewell message to Texas fans that brought many to tears.
