The New York Giants (5-11) will host the Philadelphia Eagles (11-5) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this Sunday afternoon.
That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Eagles’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue for the second time this year.
Back in Week 16, we stole wide receiver A.J. Brown. Because of that, he’s not entered into the equation this time around.
In looking over the Eagles’ roster, the options remain plentiful. They have an extremely deep and talented personnel group and have quality options at just about every position.
Jalen Hurts is always a tempting steal but his turnover issues are the opposite of what Brian Daboll wants in a quarterback. There’s also wide receiver DeVonta Smith, Giants-killing running back Boston Scott, offensive tackles Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, defensive lineman Jalen Carter, edge rusher Brandon Graham, and the list goes on and on.
Ultimately, we’re going with captain and future Pro Football Hall of Famer, center Jason Kelce.
Why Kelce at the age of 36? We’ll let defensive coordinator Wink Martindale tell you.
“I mean, this guy to me is a first-ballot Hall of Famer,” Martindale said in December. “He embodies Philly. Just like the fans, mean but smart. This guy, to me, and I said this last year and I don’t know if I said it to you guys, it’s like playing Peyton Manning and it’s not sexy so he doesn’t get that Peyton Manning-type credit, but he’ll see something, whether it’s a stance, whether it’s a guy putting his mouthpiece in different. He’ll see something and completely flip a protection. So, that chess match is always tough.
“I think Jason Kelce, he doesn’t get enough credit. Like I said, he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer.”
Kelce embodies the type of gutty, gritty, and mean offensive lineman that helped lead the Giants to their four Super Bowl titles.
What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick Jason Kelce or would you steal an entirely different player from the Philadelphia Eagles?
