No. 2 Ohio State and quarterback Kyle McCord had one last drive at Michigan Stadium to try to score a touchdown and, with the extra point, take the lead over the No. 3 Wolverines and win The Game.
But Michigan’s defense — one of the toughest in the country — was just too good, and Wolverines junior defensive back Rod Moore picked off McCord’s pass up the middle at the Michigan 22-yard line. It was intended for star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and McCord was hit just as he got it off, but Moore snuck in there first for a diving game-winning interception.
With 25 seconds left on in the fourth quarter, the Wolverines got the ball back, quarterback J.J. McCarthy took a knee and Michigan secured its third consecutive victory over Ohio State with a 30-24 final score.
