Texas fans in attendance for the Texas Tech game on Friday night were treated to a pleasant surprise.
Freshman quarterback Arch Manning made his collegiate debut in the third quarter when the Longhorns led the Red Raiders 50-7. Typically backup quarterback Maalik Murphy enters the game when it is out of reach, but Murphy suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder during a kickoff return.
Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium erupted when Manning took the field. Texas fans were pleased with his performance after the game. Manning showcased his scrambling ability and picked up a few key first downs, appearing poised and confident throughout his debut.
