Texas running back Jonathon Brooks is out for the season after sustaining a knee injury. According to reports, Brooks suffered a torn ACL and is done for the 2023 season.
The news marks the end of what was set to become one of the best rushing seasons in program history. Brooks ran for a staggering 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season on 187 carries.
It’s unclear whether or not Brooks will put on a Texas helmet again. The talented third-year back will likely be coveted by NFL teams in the upcoming draft. Albeit, his legacy and impact on the current football program is unquestionable.
Brooks played a huge role for the 2023 football team. And while the offense should still function at a high level without him, the redshirt sophomore’s presence on the field will be missed.
Plenty of potential success still lies ahead for the former Halletsville (TX) running back. We’ll monitor where he could land in the upcoming NFL draft.
Tough news for Texas: The Longhorns announce that starting RB Jonathon Brooks is out for the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.
He suffered the injury on Saturday against TCU and will undergo surgery. Brooks finished the season with 1,139 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.
