The speculation surrounding [autotag]Shane van Gisbergen[/autotag]’s future has been steadily increasing after a victory in his NASCAR debut at the Chicago Street Course. However, there appears to be an answer on what is next for the Supercars Championship driver.
According to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, [autotag]Trackhouse Racing[/autotag] is finalizing a full-time contract with Gisbergen for the 2024 NASCAR season. The full details of the organization’s contract with the New Zealand native are unknown; however, it is believed to be a wide-ranging developmental deal that indicates he may not be full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series yet.
This would be a major jump for Gisbergen as he prepares for his second NASCAR start with Trackhouse Racing at the Indianapolis Road Course this weekend. The 34-year-old driver has become a major name within the NASCAR world and it appears that he will continue to be around for more than a few races.
For now, Trackhouse Racing has not leased or bought a third charter as the market is through the roof due to upcoming charter and TV deals. Gisbergen may not get a full-time opportunity in the Cup Series right away but it is still very notable to find out that Trackhouse Racing will continue to aid his new NASCAR dream.
