Gee Scott Sr. explains why Ohio State was the perfect place for his son

Gee Scott Sr. couldn’t have explained better why being a Buckeye is more than what we see on Saturdays #GoBucks

In his own words, Gee Scott Sr. didn’t believe that his son should have committed to the [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] program.

He wanted his son [autotag]Gee Scott Jr.[/autotag] to choose a school for different reasons like “playing time, catches, and on-field success.” Senior wanted his son to succeed and you can’t fault him for that. He mentioned when his son chose Ohio State that he “was wrapped up into being able to say I told you so.”

It seems like all of this changed after visiting Gee Jr. at camp came to a close. A heartfelt message on X, the website formerly known as Twitter, was shared and here is a portion of it.

“Listening to him talk over the last two day, it’s crazy how much he talk about his brothers (his teammates), and less about himself,” wrote the elder Scott … “You commit with selfish reasons, but then you develop into someone that is the opposite of what you were…. The preparation and the will to be better than you were yesterday with a bunch of others that want the same thing is a lesson in life that not many get. So I’ll wrap this up. As a parent you want one thing. You want to be able to look at them and say, ‘Yeah you’re ready!’ Ready for what?! Life! Life is hard man, and sometimes it isn’t nice. Sometimes it sucker punches you, and sometimes it will knock you on your ass. My father started this race in 1943, and 80 year later it’s still going. That Gee would be really proud of this young Gee.”

You can read the full tweet below, and this is just another reason why the Ohio State football program isn’t just about results on the field, it’s about building the future of these young men.
