Add another accolade to [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag]’ trophy room full of awards. On Wednesday, Skenes was named D1Baseball’s Player of the Year.
In a year where teams lived and died by the long ball, Skenes shut down just about every offensive juggernaut he faced. Skenes finished the season with a 12-2 record and a national championship ring. He had a 1.69 ERA with 209 strikeouts and 20 walks.
Crews started two games during the College World Series throwing 15.2 innings and giving up only two runs on seven hits as he struck out 21 batters and only walked two.
Skenes has used this incredible season to possibly propel himself into the No. 1 slot in the upcoming MLB draft. For most of the season, he was ranked behind teammate [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag], but Skenes has become too good to pass up.

Either way, he will likely go to either the Pittsburgh Pirates or the Washington Nationals. Two teams in dire need of pitching help.
