The Buffalo Bills added Cameron Dantzler to their secondary.
The team announced that the cornerback has signed a one-year deal in Buffalo. In a corresponding move, cornerback Kyler McMichael was released by the Bills.
Dantzler, 24, is an intriguing addition. A 2020 third-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings, he had a strong rookie year. Pro Football Focus graded him a 70.9 overall mark in his first season and 73.8 in his second.
However, injuries started adding up and eventually he lost his starting job with the Vikings because of them.
In March, Dantzler was released by Minnesota and the Washington Commanders claimed him off the waiver wire. Only two months later, the Commanders went on to cut him as well.
Playing a part there was Washington using their first-round selection at the 2023 NFL draft on cornerback Emmanuel Forbes.
In Buffalo, Dantzler will have an opportunity to battle for a depth spot behind starters Tre’Davious White and Kaiir Elam. Current reserve option for the Bills include Dane Jackson, Christian Benford and Cam Lewis.
Dantzler stands at 6-foot-2, which is ideal length for a defensive back. In 35 career games, Dantzler has hauled in three interceptions and broken up 17 passes.
