The Red River Rivalry is not moving away from the Cotton Bowl anytime soon.
247Sports Chip Brown reports the two schools are expected to renew their contract with the Cotton Bowl upon the move to the SEC.
Oklahoma Athletic Director Joe Castiglione spoke on the importance of keeping the tradition of the rivalry at Fair Park in Dallas.
“We understand playing that game at a stadium with as much history as the Cotton Bowl, that there are certain limitations with regard to fan convenience, but we always want to try to make it the best we possibly can for the fans.”
The environment at the Cotton Bowl for Texas-OU is one of the most unique experiences in college football. Taking this game away from the Cotton Bowl would be a shame for all involved.
Great to see both athletic directors making it a priority to keep the game as is.
