We have a channel for the Texas-Oklahoma game this season. The game is set to be played on ABC with the time to be determined.
The game already earning the elusive ABC nod is a testament to what ESPN decision makers believe about both teams. Texas returns some of the most production in the country from last season while Oklahoma has upgraded significantly on the defensive side of the football.
Some of the more memorable games in the rivalry have come on ABC. Teddy Lehman’s famous interception of Chris Simms to seal a 14-3 Oklahoma victory took place on that channel. A few years later, Vince Young and the 2005 Texas team ended a five-game losing streak in the series on the same network.
In recent years, most games between the teams have played on Fox and ESPN. The last time the two met on ABC was in 2014 when Oklahoma defeated Texas, 31-26.
The teams will clash on October 7 in a pivotal meeting for the immediate future of the series.
