Former Lady Vol pitcher Monica Abbott returned to Tennessee, Friday-Monday.

She threw out the first pitch ahead of Friday’s Tennessee-Vanderbilt baseball game, as well as the Tennessee-Florida softball series finale on Monday.

Abbott played for Tennessee from 2004-07 and is one of the most decorated players in college softball history.

She appeared in 253 games, starting 206 contests, with the Lady Vols, and had a 189-34 career record. Abbott totaled 112 shutouts, 16 saves, 178 complete games, 2,440 strikeouts and a 0.79 ERA at Tennessee.

The former Lady Vol pitched 23 no-hitters and six perfect games during her collegiate career. She led the Lady Vols to three consecutive Women’s College World Series appearances (2005-07).

Abbott’s No. 7 jersey was retired by the University of Tennessee on March 23, 2013.
