Former LSU linebacker Devin White requests trade from Tampa Bay

White was a Second-Team All-Pro in 2020 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2021.

A former Tigers star could be on the move this offseason.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former LSU linebacker [autotag]Devin White[/autotag] has requested a trade, according to a report from ESPN’s Jenna Laine. The decision apparently stems from “frustrations” with his current situation that sources indicated to Adam Schefter has to do with his stagnating contract negotiations.

The fifth overall pick back in 2019, White was named to the All-Rookie team in his first season. He was named a Second-Team All-Pro in 2020, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021.

White totaled 140 tackles in 2022, the lowest since his rookie year, but he also notched 5.5 sacks and a career-high five passes defended.

White hasn’t had the First-Team All-Pro trajectory it looked like he’d be on after leading the Bucs to a Super Bowl in Year 2, but he’s still just 25 and one of the league’s better pass-rushing and run-defending inside linebackers despite struggling in coverage.

If Tampa Bay ultimately grants him his wish, there will certainly be a number of suitors.
