Former LSU linebacker Devin White requests trade from Tampa Bay

White was a Second-Team All-Pro in 2020 and a Pro Bowl selection in 2021.

A former Tigers star could be on the move this offseason.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former LSU linebacker [autotag]Devin White[/autotag] has requested a trade, according to a report from ESPN’s Jenna Laine. The decision apparently stems from “frustrations” with his current situation that sources indicated to Adam Schefter has to do with his stagnating contract negotiations.

The fifth overall pick back in 2019, White was named to the All-Rookie team in his first season. He was named a Second-Team All-Pro in 2020, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021.

White totaled 140 tackles in 2022, the lowest since his rookie year, but he also notched 5.5 sacks and a career-high five passes defended.

White hasn’t had the First-Team All-Pro trajectory it looked like he’d be on after leading the Bucs to a Super Bowl in Year 2, but he’s still just 25 and one of the league’s better pass-rushing and run-defending inside linebackers despite struggling in coverage.

If Tampa Bay ultimately grants him his wish, there will certainly be a number of suitors.

Dolphins land All Pro CB Jalen Ramsey for 3rd round pick, TE Hunter Long

Dolphins just got Jalen Ramsey for peanuts which makes you wonder why the Raiders couldn’t do the same.

It’s not every day you see an All Pro player in his 20s change teams for as little as the Dolphins just got Jalen Ramsey. Miami just picked up Ramsey for almost nothing, sending the Rams just a third round pick and tight end Hunter Long.

Long is a former third round pick who has one career reception. Which means the Dolphins gave up practically nothing to get the three-time All Pro, six-time Pro Bowl cornerback.

Ramsey was widely known to be on the block. And the Raiders were mentioned quite a bit as a potential destination. All of which makes you wonder why the Raiders were unable or unwilling to part with similar compensation to get Ramsey.

The Raiders have a glaring need for a starter at both outside cornerback spots, which is why they were often connected to Ramsey this offseason.

Perhaps the Raiders think they can lure a talented cornerback this free agency? Though, obviously, none of them will be of the caliber of Ramsey.

Poll: Should Jags make a trade for Cowboys OT La’el Collins?

The trade market has been interesting these last few days, and according to a report, RT La’el Collins is being discussed as a trade candidate, too. Is he a player the Jags should look into?

While free agency has yet to start for the NFL, the trade market has been interesting the last few days. Longtime Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz will be sent to new teams when the new league year starts, as will Chicago edge rusher Khalil Mack on the defensive side. Others like receiver Amari Cooper could soon endure the same fate as well, too, and he may not be alone as new trade candidates could pop up as free agency gets closer.

With the Jacksonville Jaguars  finishing 2021 with the league’s worst record, they should also be open to getting in on the trade acquisition process this offseason. They especially could use some help offensively, as their offensive line needs to be upgraded around Trevor Lawrence and skill weapons are needed, too.

For those hoping for potential help with the former issue, it appears there may be a name to be mindful of in the coming weeks. That player is Dallas Cowboys tackle La’el Collins, who NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says is being discussed in trade conversations. This news comes as the Cowboys need to free up cap space to retain some of their pending free agents like receiver Michael Gallup and tight end Dalton Schultz.

While the asking price isn’t known, Collins is a better right tackle than what the Jags currently have at the position in Jawaan Taylor. While he did miss four games due to a missed drug test last season, he was a key contributor for the team on the field, finishing with an 80.2 grade, according to Pro Football Focus. Then in 2019 (missed 2020 with a hip injury), he accumulated a career-high grade of 86.4.

At 28 years of age, Collins should have several good years left in the tank and his $10 million salary is one the Jags can afford. However, as is the case with many trade acquisitions, his availability is a little concerning (at least in his last few seasons). His penalty count in 2021 (10) is something to be mindful of, too, as it’s a reason many think the Jags should move on from Taylor.

If the Jags are one of the teams involved in trade talks with Dallas, they certainly have the assets to get it done aside from taking on Collins’ salary. They lead the 2022 draft order, but at the same time, that could complicate things because they are in position to get some very good players at the top of the draft.

That said, we’d like to hear from you all on this particular trade. Is this one the Jags should be involved in? Would you prefer the Jags to tough it out with Taylor? Or are there other options who would be better whether it’s through free agency or the draft? Let us know in the poll below.

Twitter reacts to Jags’ decision to trade Gardner Minshew II to the Eagles

The Jags once again gave the football community something to talk about after trading third-year QB Gardner Minshew.

It was fun while it lasted, but Gardner Minshew’s time with the Jacksonville Jaguars came to an end Saturday. The team traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2020 sixth-round pick that could be a fifth-rounder if he sees the field for 50% of the snaps in three games this season.

For some fans of the Jags, he’s a polarizing player who will be missed after providing the team with memorable moments on and off the field. In fact, the Minshew Mania movement not only proved to be one that took over Jacksonville temporarily but one that garnered a lot of buzz around the country.

Of course, when he was traded Minshew instantly was a trending topic on Twitter with fans all over the NFL community chiming in. Here are some of the reactions that surfaced on Twitter as Minshew is now headed to the City of Brotherly Love.

3 potential suitors to trade for Falcons’ No. 4 overall pick

After Tuesday’s report that the Atlanta Falcons have been receiving calls for their No. 4 overall selection and “are open to moving” the pick, the Trey Lance/Justin Fields sweepstakes is officially underway.

After Tuesday’s report that the Atlanta Falcons have been receiving calls for their No. 4 overall selection and “are open to moving” the pick, the Trey Lance/Justin Fields sweepstakes has officially begun.

The first three picks are essentially guaranteed to be quarterbacks after the San Francisco 49ers moved up to No. 3 spot and the Jets traded away their starter, Sam Darnold, to the Carolina Panthers on Monday. That leaves the Falcons in a valuable position as any team that was looking for a QB will now have to make a deal with Atlanta if they want to ensure they get their target.

So which teams are the most likely to pull off a trade with the Falcons?

Report: Jaguars have had discussions to potentially trade RB Leonard Fournette

The Jaguars continue to ship assets as Adam Schefter reports they are open to trading Leonard Fournette.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have already ridded themselves of several veterans from their 2017-19 squad and with the draft coming up, others could follow. Of course, the name that most are aware of is disgruntled defensive end Yannick Ngakoue but it appears he may not be alone as Leonard Fournette’s name has also been discussed on the trade block.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Jaguars are open to possibly shipping the former No. 4 overall pick, with multiple teams interested in the 25 year-old.

Fournette is approaching the final year of his rookie deal and is scheduled to make $4.16 million in 2020. That’s a figure he’ll make despite having had his guarantees voided by former front office executive Tom Coughlin following a string of disciplinary infringements.

This news concerning Fournette comes after he recently raised some eyebrows this week by publicly stating his desire for free agent Cam Newton to join the Jaguars. However, he later came out to clarify that his pitch for Newton was simply to better the team by adding competition.

Whilst he has struggled to build upon his impressive rookie season, last year Fournette managed to add a different dimension to his game, leading the team in receptions with 76. He also was able to garner 265 touches for 1,152 rushing yards (a career-high), and three touchdowns.

The Jaguars already own 12 picks in this year’s draft and have done their due diligence on the running back position, perhaps in preparation for life without their running back. If he is moved prior to the draft, Fournette would join the long list of players from the 2017 AFC Championship game to leave Jacksonville over the span of the last five months like A.J. Bouye, Calais Campbell, Jalen Ramsey, and perhaps Ngakoue.

Dave Caldwell says Jags have no announcements to offer on Yannick Ngakoue

It appears the needle hasn’t moved far on Yannick Ngakoue’s chances to get out of Jacksonville. Last month the disgruntled defensive end made his desire  to leave the Jaguars known by taking to social media to inform the football community that his “time was up” with the organization.

Fast-forward to two weeks later, and general manager Dave Caldwell had no new information to offer the media after speaking with them Wednesday about the upcoming draft.

“We’re a week away from the draft, and we’ve exercised a franchise tender,” Caldwell said. “He’s yet to sign it. Other than that, I don’t have a whole to add. Out of respect for him and his team and our team, I think it’s best that when I have news for you guys to let you guys know where we’re at.”

If there are any teams who truly want Ngakoue, it wouldn’t be surprising to see things heat up soon because we’re a week away from the draft. That was the same message that NFL insider Ian Rapoport had for us when we spoke with him many weeks ago.

“I think the main thing to do is look around in free agency and say, ‘Who didn’t pick up the edge rusher that they wanted?’ That’s what these trades [for star pass-rushers] are becoming,” said Rapoport.

“That was the case with Frank Clark last year going from Seattle to the Chiefs. It was draft week, either Tuesday or Wednesday. It was a last ditch effort like, “Alright, lets get this done to eliminate a hole before the draft.” That’s what the Chiefs did, and ended up winning the Super Bowl. I think Frank Clark probably helped on that. So it’s really just whoever didn’t sign an edge-rusher.”

A draft-day trade shouldn’t be ruled out either.

Caldwell’s lack of new news also could be a sign that Ngakoue may end up staying on the roster as it’s been stated that Jags owner Shad Khan would prefer to keep him. If Ngakoue escaped the franchise’s clutches, that wouldn’t be a good look on Khan’s part because it would give off the perceptions that players could just leave the organization as they wanted. That said, the cost for Ngakoue is probably a first-round pick and another top-3 round selection.

In the end, they may get an offer like the one the Seattle Seahawks received for Frank Clark in 2019 from the Kansas City Chiefs, which was a first for the upcoming draft, a 2020 second-rounder, and they switched 2019 thirds. To expect anything better might cause the Jags to end up empty-handed, but Jags fans should certainly watch this situation with a close eye over the next seven days.
