The transfer portal madness has just begun, and the Ohio State Buckeyes will no doubt heat up on that trail now that their season has officially come to a close.
Ohio State added Ja’Had Carter, a safety from Syracuse, as well as a kicker from the Mid-American Conference, and a long snapper from Arizona State. But they are by no means lighting up that area of recruiting.
We saw the Buckeyes make a push for a few offensive linemen, a tight end, and some defensive backs. These are obvious weaknesses that need to be addressed this offseason, but I never would have expected some quarterback action to enter my news feed.
Rumor has it former Auburn quarterback, T.J. Finley, is in Columbus, Ohio, and visiting the Ohio State campus. Finley shared his location on social media, so for all we know he could be visiting in a manner completely unrelated to football, but the classic eyeball emojis used in the post have fans wondering.
Finley started the 2022 season as the starter for Auburn after taking over for Bo Nix during the 2021 season, but due to an injury and inconsistent play did not live up to expectations. Finley has had an interesting college career, originally enrolling at LSU in 2020 and starting as a true freshman due to injuries to Myles Brennan. Finley showcased a potentially high ceiling but elected to transfer during the spring of 2021 and landed at Auburn.
It is extremely hard for me to envision the Buckeyes having any interest in Finley. His college career has been disappointing, and I don’t see him as a better option than either Kyle McCord or Devin Brown. It is understandable for there to be a drop-off from C.J. Stroud to whoever is next in line, but Finley seems like a nose-dive.
Former Auburn QB TJ Finley is in Columbus.
I don’t know how I’d feel about this addition. Probably would prefer to pass. pic.twitter.com/qf24IaOgDq
