A chilling scene played out midway through the first quarter of a game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.
After making a tackle, Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and was immediately administered CPR. The team later confirmed in a statement that the 2021 sixth-round pick had suffered a cardiac arrest.
Hamlin, whose heartbeat was restored on the field, was taken by ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He was sedated and is listed in critical condition.
The NFL world was quick to react. Millions of dollars in donations poured into Hamlin’s charity — The Chasing M’s Foundation — and prayers were sent from all over the world. That includes current and former members of the New York Giants.
Those of us at Giants Wire also offer our thoughts and prayers to Hamlin, his family, and those who are handling his care. We also encourage donations to be made to his charity.
