No. 5 Tennessee (1-1) defeated UMass (1-1), 74-65, at Thompson-Boling Arena Thursday.
The victory is Tennessee’s first this season.
Rickea Jackson recorded 24 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and two assists for the Lady Vols.
Tamari Key scored 13 points and totaled nine rebounds for Tennessee.
The Lady Vols led 17-15 at the end of the first quarter and extended its advantage to 34-29 at halftime.
Jordan Horston was injured early in the second quarter and was helped off the floor after a collision with Sydney Taylor. She suffered a knee injury.
Horston scored eight points before leaving the game.
