2022-23 NBA opening day: How former Vols fared

A look at how former Tennessee basketball players performed in the NBA opening day.

Two former University of Tennessee basketball players competed in the NBA Tuesday.

One former Vol did not play due to a coach’s decision on opening day of the 2022-23 season.

The Celtics and Grant Williams defeated Philadelphia and Tobias Harris, 126-117, at TD Garden in Boston.

Williams came off the bench for the Celtics and played 24 minutes. He recorded 15 points, one rebound and one assist.

Williams was 5-for-5 in field goal attempts, 3-for-3 in 3-point attempts and 2-for-3 in free-throw attempts.

Tobias Harris started for the 76ers and played 34 minutes. He recorded 18 points, three steals and two rebounds.

Harris was 7-for-14 in field goal attempts, 3-for-6 in three-point attempts and 1-for-2 in free-throw attempts.

Jaden Springer did not play for the 76ers due to a coach’s decision.
