Miles Teller played Peyton Manning on SNL’s season premiere, and it was eerily accurate

Ok, but honestly this is perfect.

The 48th season of Saturday Night Live premiered this week, and NBC had the star of one of the biggest movies of all time on deck for his first ever hosting gig. Miles Teller, who was Rooster in 2022’s billion dollar smash Top Gun: Maverick, opened the season with Kendrick Lamar as the musical guest.

Since there was significant cast turnover after season 47 — big names like Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant have all departed — SNL used the cold open to break down the new faces in the style of ESPN’s ManningCast.

Teller dons the tell-tale blue cashmere quarter-zip of Peyton, while Andrew Dismukes takes on little brother Eli. Jon Hamm and Shaun White make guest appearances, but the real story here is just how incredibly perfect of a Peyton Manning that Teller plays.

The mannerisms are spot on, and I can’t say that if you had asked me to pick an actor to play Peyton that Teller would have even been in the top 25. I’d say the only way to differentiate the two would be to have them throw a football, but did you see Maverick? Dogfight football is life!
