The NCAA transfer portal is more crowded than a Best Buy on Black Friday. While there are several names that Alabama fans should know about, one name Tide fans definitely need to watch out for is Baylor transfer, Matthew Mayer.
Mayer is currently in the portal but is also flirting with the NBA draft. Late on Friday afternoon, Jeff Goodman of “The Field of 68” tweeted out that the 6-feet-9, 225-pound Mayer has been in contact with several top college programs including [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Crimson Tide.
Baylor transfer Matthew Mayer has heard from Texas Tech, UNC, USC, Memphis, Alabama, Arkansas and Illinois, among others, he told me.
Mayer is currently working out in Chicago. Still undecided whether to stay in NBA Draft or return to college.

Mayer is a lethal shooter from the outside, shooting 35% in his career from behind the arc. Mayer is also an experienced player at the collegiate level, competing in 126 career games. Mayer would be a great addition to the Alabama men’s team both as a player and a leader.
Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor Mayer’s journey in the portal.
