Roger McCreary might be the best ‘pure fit’ for the Buffalo Bills

Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network believes this AFC East team would be the best fit with McCreary.

The ideal landing spot for Auburn’s Roger McCreary has been one that seems to change from week to week.

One week away from the NFL draft and I think most believe he is slated as a round two guy, some view him as the No. 5 cornerback of the class, and some a bit lower. Regardless of where he is slotted in terms of positional rankings, one team is getting a really good player. The knock will be his arm length, which will eliminate him from several teams due to their thresholds.

However, when you turn on the tape you will find McCreary almost always around the ball. No cornerback seemed to get his hands on the football as much as McCreary, he just didn’t intercept a lot of those passes. This week on a conference call, Daniel Jeremiah discussed plenty of prospects including Roger McCreary.

Jeremiah discussed the potential fit for several cornerbacks with the Buffalo Bills. After discussing the likes of Andrew Booth Jr (Clemson), Kyler Gordon (Washington), and Kaiir Elam (Florida), he mentioned the potential fit of McCreary. Although he likely doesn’t get selected at pick No. 25, could he be there at No. 57?

What Jeremiah Says…

Ironically, Roger McCreary, who I mentioned a little bit earlier, who doesn’t have that length that you would like, he actually is probably the most similar player to Tre’Davious White. Now, he’s not quite as gifted, but he’s a similar type player in terms of he can play press, he can play off, he’s got really good awareness and ball skills. That to me if you’re just talking pure fit, maybe that would be McCreary, and maybe he’s there at 57 when they pick in the second round. That could be an option for them there.

The fit with Buffalo is one that we highlighted earlier in the offseason. The Bills need to help their defense, especially at cornerback with the loss of Levi Wallace and with the availability of White early on in the season. We will find out next week if the Bills think that McCreary is indeed a fit for their team.
