Texas emerging as the favorite for three-star LB S’Maje Burrell

Five crystal balls have been entered in favor of Texas for the Fort Worth native.

After a successful weekend of visits, Texas seems to be gaining momentum on the recruiting trail for the 2023 cycle.

On Tuesday, the Longhorns emerged as the favorite for 6-foot-5 tight end Lafayette Kaiuway, now they appear to be trending in the right direction for three-star linebacker S’Maje Burrell.

Five 247Sports crystal balls have been entered in favor of Texas to land Burrell over the last week. The highest confidence predictions came from Florida insider Blake Alderman and Texas insider Mike Roach. The other three predictions were entered at a medium confidence level.

Burrell is rated the No. 42 linebacker in the country for the 2023 recruiting class and the No. 85 overall prospect in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

In 2021, he earned Texas District 3-6A Co-Defensive MVP as a junior for North Crowley High School (Fort Worth, TX). Burrell concluded the season with 104 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, five sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception.
