Former Georgia outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter announced on Sunday that he is moving on from the New York Giants after four years with the team.
One day later, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that Carter is expected to sign a one year deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
A former five-star out of Norcross, Georgia, Carter was an athletic and scrappy pass rusher during his four years at UGA. During his time in Athens, Carter recorded 14 sacks and was a leader on the defense.
Carter, 26, was a 2018 third-round draft pick. He will receive a fresh start in his home-state.
Twitter reacted to the news of the Falcons bringing home the Dawg.

Lorenzo Carter was one of 3 cheaper EDGEs I was optimistic the #Falcons would/could add when I broke down my wishlist on #FreeAgentFriday on @lockedonfalcons 10 days ago. Others were Whitney Mercilus & Jacob Martin. Local, UGA alum and was coached by #Falcons DL coach in NY
