ESPN puts Eagles in ‘QB Purgatory’ category of overhaul tier for 32 NFL teams heading into 2022

#ESPN put the #Eagles in the tier among teams that are “Stuck In QB Purgatory” entering the 2022 #NFL offseason #NFLDraft2022 #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE

The Eagles have a solid situation at quarterback and there are plenty of teams in the NFL currently looking for an upgrade or a complete rebuild.

Elite quarterbacks currently run the league and that appears to be Philadelphia’s current conundrum, with Hurts being a pretty good player, that has Eagles’ brass still unsure of his ceiling or ability to develop into a top-8 passer.

ESPN recently looked at which of the 32 NFL teams need to tear it all down and start over or take a new approach in order to move toward contender status.

In the annual overhaul tiers for 2022, Philadelphia is “stuck in quarterback purgatory”, a spot that no team really wants to be sitting.

Take stock of the quarterback position and solidify its future. The lifeless wild-card loss to Tampa Bay raises questions about Jalen Hurts’ 2022 outlook in green. Hurts did an admirable job leading Philadelphia to nine wins and a playoff berth, but his problems against the Bucs — including struggling to see open receivers and bailing from the pocket too early — aren’t new. Philadelphia at least needs to create competition for Hurts. And with GM Howie Roseman’s aggressive mentality, the Eagles are bound to be involved in a few big-game QB talks leaguewide. How could they not be, with three first-round picks (Nos. 15, 16, and 19 overall)?

Eagles GM Howie Roseman had previously talked about Hurts earning the right to be the teams’ starter in 2022 and unless a Russell Wilson trade falls into his lap, the expectation is that Philadelphia will build around the third-year quarterback.

The most logical move for Roseman involves potentially moving a first-round pick in 2022 back into 2023, with hopes of landing Alabama or Ohio State passers.
