Who had Gary Patterson wearing Texas gear on their bingo card?
The former TCU head coach was spotted at the Texas-Kansas State basketball game in Austin on Tuesday evening, sitting with Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte.
Patterson was even wearing a Longhorns polo, adding fuel to the speculation that he has already joined Steve Sarkisian’s coaching staff.
Inside Texas and Horns247 have both reported confidence that Patterson is already on the staff in some capacity, and has even taken part in a few coaches meetings already.

While the school has not announced anything official regarding the hiring, it seems more than likely to happen in the near future. It’s unclear what his role on the staff will be, but the assistant to the head coach or some type of analyst role seems to be the best bet.
Bringing in Patterson’s defensive mind in any capacity is a masterful move by Sarkisian.
