The Arizona Cardinals made some roster moves Monday that were not announced but appeared on the NFL transaction report. Two were simply procedural, as linebackers Joe Walker and Tahir Whitehead, both of whom were elevated to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday as standard elevations, reverted back to the practice squad.
They also released two players. They waived running back Tavien Feaster and long snapper Beau Brinkley.
This doesn’t necessarily mean both are done with the team.
Feaster was signed to the roster in Week 10, released on the Monday following the Cardinals’ game and then re-signed to the practice squad after he cleared waivers. Considering the uncertain status of Jonathan Ward and his concussion, that could happen again.
However, the fact that Brinkley was released after kicker Matt Prater missed three kicks — two field goals and an extra point — raises questions.
Kyle Nelson was the first long snapper they signed after Aaron Brewer fractured his arm. He then was placed on the practice squad injured reserve. If he is ready to return, then Brinkley might be done.
But we will see in the days to come and then perhaps into next week when they have practices prepping for a football game after the bye.
