Alabama wide receiver John Metchie III is currently in his junior season, which makes him eligible to declare for the 2022 NFL draft. The star wide receiver was once the young, fresh face in a wide receiver corps that consisted of four first-round pass-catchers.
Now, Metchie plays alongside first-year transfer from Ohio State, Jameson Williams, who has been stellar for the Crimson Tide.
Through 10 games, Metchie has put up impressive numbers, comparable with just about any WR1 in college football. He’s tallied 67 receptions for 722 yards and scored six touchdowns.
Metchie entered the 2021 college football season as an expected first-round pick, but a slow start to the season dropped him down to the second round. Now, he is making a comeback and mock drafts are moving him up the boards.
He’s where he is projected to land in recent mock drafts:
NFL Spin Zone: 24, Las Vegas Raiders
With the First Pick: 28, Detroit Lions
Elite Sports NY: 28, Green Bay Packers
Pro Football Network: 30, Detroit Lions
Sporting News: 28, Green Bay Packers
Pro Football Focus: 30, Green Bay Packers
NBC Sports Chicago: 19, Tennessee Titans
