Losers of four straight and currently the bottom-feeders of the NFC South, the Carolina Panthers are sinking fast. But they may be getting at least one lifesaver thrown their way soon.
The team started its week ahead of their upcoming matchup against the Atlanta Falcons with linebacker Shaq Thompson on the practice field. Although limited, his participation is a soothing sign for the Panthers considering their recent string of injuries.
Thompson has missed the past three games due to a plantar fascia issue. Having the leader of the defense back in time for a key divisional contest is, of course, a huge deal for this struggling squad.
Here’s Wednesday’s injury report in its entirety:
Injury | Wed. | Thurs. | Fri. | Game Status
CB C.J. Henderson | Shoulder | Limited
LB Shaq Thompson | Foot | Limited
WR Terrace Marshall Jr. | Concussion | DNP
FB Giovanni Ricci | Concussion | Limited

In three more encouraging steps for the defense, Carolina saw cornerback Stephon Gilmore and safeties Myles Hartsfield and Juston Burris back as well.
Burris was officially designated to return following a three-week stint on the injured reserve with a groin. Gilmore and Hartsfield have already been designated for their returns after wrapping up their stays off the active roster.
