Before we get into this, we should note that it’s all very early in the season, but if I told you that the Rutgers Scarlet Knights were ranked ahead of Ohio State in a computer poll, would you believe me?
Well, you should, because that’s exactly what’s going on with the Congrove Computer Rankings, and we have to give credit to our friends at Rutgers Wire for uncovering it.
After last week, the Buckeyes are ranked way down at No. 43, with Greg Schiano’s crew one spot ahead at No. 42. Also, close by but below Rutgers are Florida (No. 44), and Arkansas (No. 46). In each case, the teams ahead of the Scarlet Knights are ranked in the AP Poll, while Rutgers sits outside of it.

Before you start throwing things and breaking mirrors, remember, this is probably short-lived and there are simply not enough data points to be accurate on these computer rankings yet.
We have a feeling Rutgers will no longer be ranked ahead of OSU after this week. But, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
