Giants rule three players out, Saquon Barkley questionable vs. Washington

The New York Giants have ruled 3 players, including Evan Engram, out against the Washington Football Team. Saquon Barkley is questionable.

The New York Giants will visit the Washington Football Team this Thursday night at FedEx Field and will do so shorthanded.

On Wednesday, the team ruled three players out for the primetime showdown, including offensive lineman Shan Lemieux.

Although the Giants have not confirmed the injury, it has been reported that Lemieux is dealing with a partially torn patellar tendon. In his absence, it’s possible that Nick Gates slides over to left guard and Billy Price starts at center.

In addition to Lemieux, the Giants also ruled special teams standout Cam Brown (hamstring) and tight end Evan Engram (calf) out.

Brown played in a Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos, but Engram did not. He will now miss his second consecutive game with an eye on returning in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Meanwhile, the Giants also listed running back Saquon Barkley (knee) as questionable.

Barkley played against Denver this past Sunday but was highly ineffective. In fact, Saquon was the least effective running back in the NFL per Next Gen Stats and they didn’t even factor in his poor pass protection or a dropped pass.

Despite being listed as questionable, Barkley is expected to play on Thursday night. However, it’s unclear how significant his role will be as the Giants continue to ease him back into the swing of things following a torn ACL.

After placing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (hip) on injured reserve, Washington did not list a single player on their injury report. Running back Antonio Gibson (should) was a full participant on Wednesday and will start.
