The New York Giants hosted quarterback Sean Mannion for a workout on Friday and are now likely to sign the 29-year-old in the coming days.
Art Stapleton of USA TODAY and NorthJersey.com was the first to report on the potential signing.
Veteran QB Sean Mannion worked out for the #NYGiants after practice today, and sounds like there's a chance a signing could be coming. Mannion spent last two seasons in reserve behind Kirk Cousins in Minnesota.
Workouts for Mannion this week with Seahawks and Jets as well.

Giants are likely to sign QB Sean Mannion after seeing him in a workout after today's practice.
This would add a fourth quarterback as training camp heats up, with joint practices with the Browns and Patriots upcoming.— Paul Schwartz (@NYPost_Schwartz) July 30, 2021
Mannion was a third-round pick of the Rams in 2015. He remained with Los Angeles through the 2018 season and then signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 where he backed up Kirk Cousins.
In 17 career games (two starts), Mannion has completed 60.8% of his passes for 383 yards and three interceptions. He has a QB Rating of 57.5 and a starting record of 0-2.
With the Giants holding joint practices with the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns in the coming weeks, having a fourth quarterback on the roster makes sense. Head coach Joe Judge also likes to run simultaneous practices on multiple fields, so this addition would also help prevent one quarterback burning themselves out.
In addition to the Giants, Mannion also recently worked out for the Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets.
