It’s that time of year when we start to get all the preseason watch lists to sort through. And when you are an Ohio State fan, that means some of your favorite players are sure to be mentioned.
In the case of receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, both appear on the Maxwell Award preseason watch list that was released on Monday. If you follow college football closely, we’re sure you are aware of the Maxwell. Not as prestigious as the Heisman, but it too goes to the player judged to be the best all-around in college football annually.
The award has been around 1937 and is voted on by a panel of experts and handed out by the Maxwell Football Club. Ohio State has had four players win the Maxwell. Howard “Hopalong” Cassady won it in 1955, followed by Bob Ferguson (1961), Archie Griffin (1975), and Eddie George (1995).
You can find the rest of the 80 names appearing on the preseason watch list below.

Here’s to hoping Garret, Olave, or both, have the type of seasons that keep them in the running for the Maxwell Award the entire season.
