Kirk Herbstreit’s son, Jake, leaves Clemson program

Looks like one of the Herbstreit twins is moving on from Clemson to other opportunities.

Former Ohio State quarterback and ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit’s son, Jake, has left Dabo Swinney and the Clemson program according to a spokesman from the university.

Herbstreit was a redshirt sophomore walk-on and member of the Tigers’ scout team in 2020 and did not see any game action. He did appear in four games during his redshirt season of 2019.

Jake is one of two twin sons that walked on at Clemson in 2018. His brother, Tye, is reportedly still with the team as a redshirt sophomore wide receiver. He has appeared in five games during his career so far.

There is no backstory on this so far that we know of, and sometimes kids just leave programs to pursue other opportunities. That appears to be the case here.
