Why LeBron James is changing his jersey number back to 6 with the Lakers

LeBron James is back in number 6 and the NBA better be ready

During arguably LeBron James’ best years he wore the number 6 with the Miami Heat. We saw him absolutely dominate the NBA. Those Finals performances against the Spurs, absolutely ending the Boston Celtics in Game 6, the battles with Paul George.

He was at the peak of his powers dominating the NBA wearing that number 6 jersey. And now it’s back. Finally.

After a couple of years of waiting since his move to the Lakers, LeBron James is finally going to wear number 6 again, according to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Tim Cato.

And it’ll be just in time for his new Space Jam movie, where he’ll be wearing his new (old?) number.

COMEBACK SZN IS UPON US.

This should be pretty fun! Number 6 LeBron is easily the best version of LeBron. So he’s got a lot to live up to here.

James has wanted to do this for a while, but he’ll be wearing number 6 in Space Jam so the switch is finally happening.

This would’ve happened a lot sooner, but money got in the way. There’d been a rumored switch when the Lakers traded for Anthony Davis, who wore number 23 with the Pelicans.

Davis was going to switch to 23 and James was going to switch back to 6. But the trade was made in July and the deadline for new jersey numbers was on March 15.

They could’ve made the switch, but the Lakers would’ve had to work out a deal with Nike, per Yahoo! Sports, and decided against it.

It’s happening now, though. Number 6 is back. The NBA better watch out.
