Ohio State football lost to Alabama on the field during the 2021 national championship game, and it has now lost to the Tide once again on the recruiting trail.
The Buckeyes were in the thick of landing Tennessee transfer Henry To’o To’o, but he announced his decision to transfer to Alabama after entering the transfer portal after the Volunteers fired head coach Jeremy Pruitt. In fact, most recruiting types has OSU in the lead for landing the former freshman All-American linebacker’s services.
It was not to be though. Alabama put on a late push and has won out, leaving Ohio State very thin and very green at linebacker after losing its top four performers to graduation and the NFL draft.

To’o To’o was ranked as the No. 3 outside linebacker and 44th overall prospect in the 2019 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was an impact player immediately for Tennessee and considered arguably the biggest prospect in the transfer portal this offseason.
Ryan Day and staff haven’t lost out often with the transfer portal, but this is a big one that will sting. We’ll see if the Buckeyes continue to work the transfer route or look to develop the current players on the roster to try and put together a linebacking unit that has some work to do.
